Harris Farm Markets
Canberra Airport is excited to announce that Harris Farm Markets will be joining the Majura Park retail precinct.
The new innovative, fresh food shopping experience will be the first of its kind in Canberra, joining retail giants already located at Majura Park, including Costco, Woolworths and Aldi, making Majura Park the gourmet grocery destination for Canberrans.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Harris Farm Markets and that they have chosen Majura Park as the home of their new flagship large-format store in Canberra. It is a fantastic addition to our growing retail precinct, and they will complement our existing grocery offering.” Richard Snow, Head of Property at Canberra Airport, says.
“Construction of the new 4,500m2 purpose-built building will commence mid-2022 with Harris Farm Markets set to open in time for Christmas 2023.” Mr Snow says.
Majura Park will be Harris Farm Markets 29th store. The signature farmers market style shopping experience will offer Canberra an abundance of fresh fruit and vegies – including locally grown and organic options – plus a café, juice bar, nut station and flower market.
The store will also be home to an extensive quality seafood and meat offering, with a cut-to-order Harris Farm butchery and dry-aged meat fridges. Along with a gourmet grocery section of boutique local products, an extensive deli and offering of more than 500 cheeses, plus a bakery section with the best breads such as sourdough and brioche. Local shoppers will find many of Australia’s best fresh food producers sold under one roof.
Harris Farm Markets co-CEO Tristan Harris, one of the three Harris sons who now run the company after their parents, David and Cathy Harris, stepped back from the business, said he was excited to announce what will be their first store in Canberra.
“The ACT and nearby Southern Tablelands of NSW is famed for a richness of food and an incredible assortment of fruit and veg that we look forward to be able to celebrate in this store working with so many wonderful growers & makers is what we thrive off. The store at Majura Park will allow us to showcase
local flavours, and being purpose built, will also allow us to design and create a store of the future – to celebrate all this edible goodness, which is what we have been doing as a business for over 50 years.”
“We anticipate the market will offer upward of 120 jobs for the local ACT community. Majura Park is an exciting precinct, and we are proud to be involved.”
